i miss my daddy!

Hi dad,
Mom and I are having a great time up here in North Carolina, but I've gotta tell you, I miss you like crazy. Mom is pretty good at keeping me fed and warm and that kind of stuff, but she's not nearly as fun as you! I miss our walks around the pond and all of your silly faces. I miss watching you pick out my outfits every morning, and I miss giving you sugars. There's a lot of people up here to love on me--there's Nana and Pops, Grandma and Grandaddy, Stacy and Ivan, Shannon and Anna--but none of them can love me like you do. How silly you were to think I could forget about you! I love you!

Nana and Pops surprised Kate this week with an early Easter basket full of fun stuff. Her face, just take a look, lit up when Nana came around the corner with her fuzzy bunny basket.

a family resemblance

People sometimes ask, "Who does Kate look like--a Russell or a Burton?" I think this picture leaves little room for doubt...Kate clearly gets her good looks, and bald spots, from her Pops!

Troubled times...

Kate has had a rough day today. Teething, no doubt. She hasn't been able to nap AT ALL, and she's struggling to sleep tonight. It breaks my heart! We know it's all a part of growing up, but sometimes growing up is no fun at all!
Please pray that sweet Kate will get some sweet sleep tonight. I'm hoping she'll be well-rested for our flight home!

Good Morning!

When I went to wake up Kate this morning, this is exactly what I found! Sorry the picture is so dark; I thought it would be cruel to use the flash so early in the morning! Now, what you can't see is Kate's mobile moving in circles above her head. While waiting patiently for me and her dad, Kate managed to turn on her mobile! Smart girl!

Mommy loves on Kate before leaving for a date with daddy! Many thanks to Miss Letha and Pastor Rick for babysitting while mommy and daddy got some much needed "us" time. We enjoyed an evening of Dunkin' Donuts and put-put! And just so you know, I kicked Stephen's tail!

We're terrible, I know. But you have to admit, this is pretty darn cute. Don't worry, no BabyBurtons were harmed in the production of this blog. In fact, Kate got a big kick out of her Daddy's silly antics.

There have been few dull moments around our house in the last 5 months...that's right...5 months! Everything is harder, but sweeter, far more complicated, but tons more fun, now that Kate has joined the gang.

In honor of my Uncle Adam's birthday, I've decided to spend the entire day in his favorite spot--the couch! I know, I look like a pro at this whole couch-potato thing, but I was taught by the best of 'em!
